The client went to an auction warehouse and was on his way home.
He was on I-10, headed east, in pretty heavy traffic, in one of the 2nd-to-leftmost lanes. The vehicle that hit him was in the HOV lane but drifted over into his lane and hit him close to the rear passenger tire. The tire blew out, and the fender almost fell off. The defendant then started making his way over to the right side of the freeway, and he hit several vehicles on the way to the side of the road. The defendant reached the rightmost lane and then took off along the side of the highway. Jason remembers seeing sparks where the defendant’s vehicle was hitting the highway wall, trying to get around traffic.
Defendant was tracked down a few blocks later and immediately arrested on suspicion of DUI. Jason had serious injuries. He had scars on his face, a serious concussion, and was treated for almost a year.
We got him $100,000. He was able to pay off his home with his settlement.
